Welcome to Alexander Technique for Musicians
The Alexander Technique is one of the most useful tools you can have as a musician. It's a way of noticing habitual patterns in your playing that could be causing problems for you. Through studying and applying the Technique, you'll gain a clear understanding of how your entire body works in relation to playing music. It can help you to avoid injury, play with much less tension and effort, and improve your coordination, sound and technical facility. I've posted a few articles here for you to browse. You can also visit my blog, where I write specifically for musicians." .billplakemusic.org

Since taking the classes and having some private lessons, I no longer have any pain whatsoever in my neck area or my back. I’ve learned how to let my body do what it does best, without interference from me. I am in total control of my bowhand and just the other day, a well-respected musician commented that my sound was incredible, very big and luscious, and the only thing I changed was the way I used my muscles through the Alexander Technique.
